This Saturday, on June 30, 2018 at 12:00 pm, the first concert of the "Guests of the Polish Chamber Choir" series under the title "Polish Music in the Gazebo" will take place in the Oliwski Park (Opata Jacka Rybińskiego St., Gdańsk). In the charming park scenery, on the next Saturdays, gems of Polish music will be presented during one-hour concerts.
The first ensemble to perform will be Polish Chamber Choir under the direction of Jan Łukaszewski – the organizer of the event, celebrating this year its 40th anniversary. The choir will present folk and patriotic songs of Polish composers: Stanisław Moniuszko, Ignacy Paderewski, Edward Pałłasz, Juliusz Łuciuk, Ireneusz and Leon Łukaszewski.
On subsequent summer Saturdays, in July and August (7, 14, 21, 28 July and 4 and 11 August), always at noon, there will be concerts of artists from the Gdańsk Academy of Music. On the first Saturday in July we will hear a duet composed of Monika Dżuła-Radkiewicz (guitar) and Dorota Pawlus (flute). The artists will play Waltz by Jan Nepomucen Bobrowicz and Hommage a Chopin by Aleksander Tansman. On July 14, violinist Julia Kazimirowicz and pianist Marta Kur will perform Sonata op. 9 for violin and piano by Karol Szymanowski. The fourth concert will feature accordionist Maciej Kacprzak and cellist Karol Sokołowski, who will present two pieces: Krzysztof Olczak's Accotango and Fryderyk Chopin's Prelude in E minor, Op.28. On the last Saturday in July, the nostalgic music of Mieczysław Fogg, Eugeniusz Bodo and Marek Grechuta arranged for string quartet will be performed by Jardin Kwartet.
We would like to welcome August with songs from the Kabaret Starszych Panów performed by Karolina Arczewska with the band. During the last concert of the cycle, we will hear arias and songs by Stanisław Moniuszko, Karol Szymanowski and Mieczysław Karłowicz performed by Paulina Dąbrowska (soprano), Andżelika Gmińska (mezzo-soprano) and Zuzanna Lisiecka (piano).
