Gdańsk | Premiere of Magdalena Cynk's "Reflection I"
Magdalena Cynk's Reflection I will be first performed on 19 June 2020 at 5:00 p.m. at a carillon concert at the St. Catherine's Church in Gdańsk.
The latest piece by the composer from Toruń will be performed by the city carillonist Monika Kaźmierczak. This is an extremely emotional reaction of Magdalena Cynk to the pandemic situation. The mosaic form of Reflection I consists of thematically and agogically contrasting episodes in which the closing motif dominates. The concert programme also includes Healing Bells, a work written by Jet Schouten and Pamela Ruiter-Feenstra, performed by carillonists from around the world. The concert can be heard around the tower of the St. Catherine's Church, as well as online on the Gdansk Carillon Facebook page.
Polish music will be also included in the programme of the next carillon concert on 20 June at 12.05 p.m. from the tower of the Main Town Hall in Gdańsk. We will listen to, among others, Katarzyna Kwiecień-Długosz's Ad Fontes. The composition was written for the Holy Week 2020 and was dedicated to all people who seek hope.
