Kałuszyn | Inauguration of the 4th Mazovian Musical Meetings Without Barriers

Czas sztukiThe "Czas Sztuki" Foundation invites you on 25 July 2021 at 9.00 p.m. to the inauguration of the 4th Mazovian Musical Meetings Without Barriers. The Ludwik Sarski Orchestra will perform original improvised music for the 1917 film Bestia (The Polish Dancer) by Aleksander Hertz on the open-air stage of the Cultural Centre in Kałuszyn (Kilińskiego Square).

Ludwik Sarski Orchestra was founded on the initiative of two multi-instrumentalists and composers: Damian Szymczak and Piotr Tomala. In their improvisations, they combine styles related to contemporary music, jazz, klezmer music and tango. The ensemble successfully performs in Poland and abroad, presenting their original compositions live to silent films by Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Roman Polański and others. In May, DUX released their debut album – Ols the Kid, which is a tribute to Chaplin's work.

The 4th Mazovian Musical Meetings Without Barriers will be inaugurated with a screening of Aleksander Hertz's Bestia with live music. The film tells the tragic story of a love triangle: a young artist and her two lovers, former and new, married to another woman. The role of the artist is played by Pola Negri, the greatest star of Polish cinema at the time. The film is the oldest surviving film with the actress and one of nine films she made for the Sfinks studio.

8 artistic events are scheduled as part of the 4th Mazovian Musical Meetings without Barriers, including concerts with classical music, premieres of new works by Dawid Pajdzik and Bartosz Kowalski, and a music-poetry meeting. The events within the series will take place from July to December 2021 at the Cultural Centre in Kałuszyn, the House of Creative Work "Reymontówka" in Chlewiska, the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Seroczyn, at the Liw Castle and the Łochów Palace.

Admission to all events is free! Co-financed by the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport from the Culture Promotion Fund.
