‘70th birthday anniversary - Generation ’51’: the next guest of this concert cycle in NOSPR will be recognized pianist Dr. Piotr Sałajczyk, the lecturer at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. The concert will take place on the 19th of February 2022 at 6 p.m. and will include works of composers such as Eugeniusz Knapik, Gustav Mahler and Arnold Schönberg to be performed by Silesian Quartet.
String Quartet No. 2 of Eugeniusz Knapik is dedicated to Silesian Quartet on the occasion of 40 years jubilee. The work was premiered in 2019. 35 - 40 minute piece is technically and emotionally demanding. It encompasses versatile composing techniques while elaborate language of the composer intensifies.
Next to the Knapik’s piece Piano Quartet of the 18-year-old Gustav Mahler will be played as well as Chamber Symphony Op. 8 by Arnold Schönberg transcribed to piano quintet by Anton Webern.
