The premiere of Audition V by Andrzej Krzanowski – an opera in 20 scenes to texts by Zbigniew Dolecki and Jacek Bierezin – will take place in the NOSPR concert hall on September 9, 2018.
This prematurely deceased, outstanding Silesian composer left his innovative work in manuscript. Despite several approaches, the piece has been waiting for its premiere performance for several decades. As a form, Audition V exceeds the framework of a concert, a theater performance, a choreographic poem, a multimedia projection; constituting a kind of meta-form combining word, sound, light, dance, multimedia, elements of happening and interaction with the audience. Also, the executive apparatus of the work is very complex: actors, solo soprano, chamber choir, orchestra divided into several groups, dancers, mime, multi-channel electroacoustic layer. Krzanowski created a bizarre form – a form of audition – in which poetry is a co-ordinate partner. Audition V is in a sense the sum of the four previous ones, both in terms of the texts used and the musical layer. The premiere of the opera will inaugurate this year's series of concerts at the headquarters of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice within the project "Polish music too little known".
