On May 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. the Silesian Philharmonic Choir under the direction of Jarosław Wolanin will take part in the Holy Mass for Motherland in the Katowice Cathedral of Christ the King.
This year marks the 227th anniversary of the adoption of the Polish Constitution of May 3, 1791. It was in force only for a little over 14 months, but it was the first in Europe, and after the American (1787) – the second written, modern constitution in the world. The Holy Mass for Motherland in the Katowice Cathedral of Christ the King is one of the elements of the annual celebration of the May 3rd Constitution Day. Traditionally, its musical setting will be provided by the Silesian Philharmonic Choir.
The programme will cover: Tadeusz Paciorkiewicz – Ave Regina coelorum, Anonim – Bogurodzica, Marek Jasiński – Ave Maria, Adrian Robak – Jubilate Deo, Andrzej Koszewski – Magnificat, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki – Totus Tuus.
