On the 16th of July at 6 p.m., 2022 on the 90th anniversary of birth of (exact birthday on the 17th) one of the most famous Polish composers of the 20th century, Wojciech Kilar, the Silesian Philharmonic prepared a special concert dedicated to his memory. The Symphony Orchestra of the Silesian Philharmonic conducted by Yaroslav Shemet will perform only the works of this composer.

The concert will begin with the Solemn Overture, which was created on the occasion of the 145th anniversary of granting city rights to Katowice. That evening, Kościelec 1909 will also be performed, a poem devoted to Mieczysław Karłowicz, who died tragically in the title year, buried in a snow avalanche near Mały Kościelec. The rest of the concert will be filled with film music, which is a genre of particular importance in Kilar's work. We will hear themes from Revenge, Salt of the Black Earth, The Promised Land and Pan Tadeusz.
