Katowice | Newest music in NOSPR: Agata Zubel & Chae-Um Kim

NOSPR 19 1 24Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

On the 19th of January, 2024 at 7.30 p.m. at NOSPR we will hear uncompromising interpretations of 20th and 21st century vocal lyrics, performed by the composer and singer Agata Zubel and the Korean pianist Chae-Um Kim, who lives permanently in Paris.

The programme of their joint recital ranges from beautiful songs by Korngold and Wagner, through a musical arrangement of poems by Eina Leina to the recently deceased outstanding Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho, to the youngest works: an extensive cycle to the sonnets of Elizabeth Barrett Browning written by the Slovenian Nina Šenk, and a work by the Spanish composer José María Sánchez-Verdú from 2023. And it is in Spain that this musical journey ends - with a daring cycle of songs by Manuel de Falla based on the local folklore.
