Katowice | Silesian Quartet - "Masterpieces with Polish counterpoint": Witold Lutosławski

The first concert of the Silesian Quartet this year as part of the series "Masterpieces with Polish counterpoint" on the 27th of January, 2024 at 18.00 is dedicated to Witold Lutosławski, who would have turned 110 this year. Hence, his String Quartet is on the programme.

The programme also includes string quintet with two cellos by Witold Maliszewski, teacher of Witold Lutosławski and student of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov himself. Musicians of the Silesian Quartet will be accompanied by recognized Swedish cellist Mats Lidström, member of the jury of the first edition of the Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition.

The evening will begin with the last String Quartet of Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.
