Kielce | Premiere of "Viola Concerto" by Olga Hans
The premiere of Olga Hans' Viola Concerto will take place at the Oskar Kolberg Świętokrzyska Philharmonic in Kielce on 12 March 2021 at 7.00 p.m. Róża Wilczak will perform as a soloist.
Olga Hans's Concerto for Viola and Orchestra was commissioned in 2020 by the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic as part of the "Composing Commissions" programme opearted by the Institute of Music and Dance. Classical in form, the concerto is composed of three contrasted movements. According to the composer, they shows "various sound qualities of the viola against and in cooperation with the orchestral ensemble". Composer and pedagogue Olga Hans, associated with the Academy of Music in Łódź, has already composed several works for viola, and her "muse", as she confessed, was always Róża Wilczak. The soloist teaches the viola at the mentioned academy.
The Świętokrzyska Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Jacek Rogala will also present Richard Wagner's Siegfried Idyll, which was the composer's gift to his wife on the birthday of their son, and the symphonic poem Preludes by Franz Liszt.
