Eleventh edition of the summer open-air festival “Wawel at dusk” begins on the 7th July and will last until the 25th August 2018. The concerts will take place at the illuminated Arcaded and Batory Courtyards of the Wawel Royal Castle.
The programme of the 11th “Wawel at dusk” Festival puts a special emphasis on Polish values and national culture (Fryderyk Chopin, Henryk Wieniawski, Karol Szymanowski, Wojciech Kilar, Krzysztof Penderecki). Wawel is a very special venue for the people of Poland. Hence, the music played at the Festival will induce the feeling of national pride with the Representative Border Guard Orchestra performing Polish patriotic songs and young singers performing Chopin and Moniuszko. Also, numerous historical and contemporary themes will be present at the festival.
As in the previous years, the international audience will be greeted by musical Masters: pianist Karol Radziwonowicz, cellist Rafal Kwaitkowski, conductor Marek Moś, as well as young talented artists: pianist Szymon Nehring (Polish culture young ambassador to the world), the CORda Cracovia orchestra, and the Octava vocal group. The inaugural concert “TERAZ MLODZI” will see four young talented musician performing: two instrumentalists playing solo, and two conductors presenting exclusively Polish repertoire (Szymanowski, Szałowski, Penderecki).
