Kraków | 12th Wawel at Dusk Festival

Wawel

12th edition of the summer outdoor festival "Wawel at dusk" will be held on 6 July –31 August 2019.

The total of 9 concerts will take place in the illuminated courtyards of the Wawel Royal Castle: Arcade and Batory. The main theme of this year's edition – "Preserving Chopin" – will lead to presentation of music by "the ambassador of Polishness in the world" Fryderyk Chopin, Stanisław Moniuszko, Karol Szymanowski, Ignacy Jan Paderewski and Witold Lutosławski. Polish music will be portrayed in the broad context of musical culture in different countries. In addition to the music of Maurice Ravel or Claude Debussy, the programme will include wroks by composers associated with Kraków: Artur Malawski, Adam Walaciński and Marcel Chyrzyński.

As every year, the concerts will feature famous artists such as conductor Łukasz Borowicz, pianists Kevin Kenner and Mariola Cieniawa, cellist Bartosz Koziak, sopranos Katarzyna Oleś-Blacha and Iwona Socha. The concerts will be also perforemed by young talented musicians, winners of significant music competitions: pianists Krzysztof Książek and Marcin Koziak, violinist Aleksandra Kuls, guitarist Dmytro Holovenko and orchestra CORDA Cracovia.
