Krakow | 46th Music in Old Cracow Festival

KrakówThe 46th "Music in Old Cracow" Festival will run from 15 to 31 August 2021. Outstanding artists will perform their own programmes, which guarantees the most perfect interpretation. The festival also includes works by Krakow composers and artists of the young generation.

The concerts will take place in the most beautiful places in the city: Corpus Christi Church, Krzysztofory Palace, Music Academy, Tempel Synagogue and others. Each edition of the Festival features renowned foreign and Polish artists, mainly from Krakow: Capella Cracoviensis, Royal Rorantists, Collegium Zieleński. This year we will hear, among others, works by Stanisław Moniuszko, Fryderyk Chopin, Franciszek Maklakiewicz and Mieczysław Karłowicz in the interpretation of mezzo-soprano Monika Korybalska and guitarist Dmytro Holovenko (17 August), music by Franciszek Lessel, Stefan Kisielewski and Władysław Żeleński performed by Veramo String Quartet (18 August), as well as works by Józef Elsner, Roman Maciejewski, Ignacy Friedman and Witold Lutosławski performed by Książek Piano Duo (19 August).

Thematic and occasional programes are another proposal in the repertoire of this year's Festival. There will be concerts "Mater Nostra" by Octava Ensemble (16 August in the Evangelical Church), "Song of the Earth" by the Sei Terre Vocal Sextet (23 August in the "Florianka" Hall of the Music Academy), "Songs of St. Hildegard of Bingen" performed by Flores Rosarum (29 August in the Church of St. Peter and Paul), as well as a music and literature evening "Told with Word and Music" with Jerzy Stuhr (22 August at the Tempel Synagogue), featuring Wojciech Kilar's music performed by the Silesian Chamber Musicians Quintet.
