The Academy of Music in Krakow invites you to the 6th edition of the festival "Days of Music", which will take place on December 2-9, 2018 and this year will be dedicated to the work of Krzysztof Penderecki.
"Days of Music" is a musical event that is always dedicated to a specific artist – native or foreign, presented in the context of his era. The programme puts a special emphasis on presenting Polish composers and placing them in the European context. The concerts are meant not only to show the work of the "Music Days" hero, but also to present music from a given period, works of his peers, patrons or compositions presenting a related style.
The 6th edition is devoted to Krzysztof Penderecki, who celebrates his 85th birthday this year. The Professor is not only an icon of Polish music, but also a person who contributed a lot to the daily life of the Kraków Academy of Music. The works of the Jubilarian, as well as compositions by Andrzej Panufnik, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Zbigniew Bujarski, Marek Stachowski and Fazil Say will be performed by outstanding musicians: Roman Widaszek, Marek Szlezer, Jan Kalinowski, Maria Machowska, Katarzyna Budnik, Kaji Danczowska, Tadeusz Tomaszewski, Jakob Spahna, DAFÔ string quartet and Messages Quartet. The pianist Piotr Orzechowski will present his own piano Preludes. During the final concert, Penderecki's Symphony "Christmas Eve" and Abel Korzeniowski's suite from the Metropolis movie will be performed by the Choir and Symphony Orchestra of the Music Academy under the direction of Rafał Delekta and Andrzej Korzeniowski.
