August 24th, 2018 marks the public launch of Spółdzielnia Muzyczna [Musicians Associated], the long-awaited venue of Krakow’s contemporary music ensemble under the same name.
For these young musicians, who had come together in the town’s Academy as well as during masterclasses taken abroad, the past season has been especially rich in events organised locally. Over the last ten months, apart from collective performances at the Audio Art festival or the ELEMENTI conference, members of the ensemble played music to silent films, hosted by various theatres, in between talks about post-war and contemporary musical art held in several community centres around Krakow. And for the opening of the fourth year on stage together, Spółdzielnia Muzyczna contemporary ensemble invite you to their very own place at last, located at 46 Gromadzka St.
The inaugural programme features many friends of the group, both Polish and international. Besides the hosts themselves, the night’s audience will hear the Hashtag Ensemble (Warsaw), Ensemble Kompopolex (Wroclaw), the Krakow Improvisers Orchestra, and Marlies Debacker with Salim Javaid (Cologne). That, however, is only the beginning, therefore be sure to follow closely the calendar of Musicians Associated.
