Among the many institutions that have decided to celebrate the jubilee of one of the best-known contemporary Polish composers in the world, there is also the Łódź Philharmonic. The symphonic concert celebrating Krzysztof Penderecki's 85th birthday will take place on November 23, 2018 at 7.00 p.m.
Under the baton of Georgian conductor George Tchintchinadze, artistic director of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra in Gdańsk, we will hear Penderecki's Sinfonietta per archi, which refers to the baroque form of concerto grosso. Then, Joseph Haydn's Trumpet concerto with Penderecki's cadenza will show how easily the contemporary composer writes in different styles and epochs. The soloist of the concert will be Frenchman Romain Leleu, laureate of Victoires de la Musique, known as the French Grammy Award. In the finale of the concert, the Symphony Orchestra of the Łódź Philharmonic will perform Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 7.
