Lodz | Opening Concert of the 2021/2022 season of the Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic
The concert on 11 September 2021 at 7.00 p.m. will inaugurate the 2021/2022 artistic season of the Łódź Philharmonic. The Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir will perform under the direction of Paweł Przytocki, the artistic director of the institution.
The Łódź Philharmonic Choir will present Romuald Twardowski's songs, which combine elements of new compositional techniques with reminiscences of the music of bygone eras. Grażyna Bacewicz's Piano Concerto, distinguished bylate-Romantic orchestral texture and influences of Polish folklore, will be performed by the Łódź Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and pianist Julia Kociuban, who received a nomination for the Fryderyk Phonographic Academy Award in 2020 for the album with the recording of this piece. The concert was written in 1949 for a composition competition and, which is hard to believe, has not yet been performed in Łódź. The concert programme will also feature Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 1 in F minor.
