Polish music for violin and piano will be performed during a concert on May 15, 2018 at 7.00 pm at the Academy of Music in Łódź, promoting the Song of the Earth CD, released less than a month ago.
The programme of the concert is filled with 20th century Polish music and contains almost all the works from the Song of the Earth CD, which premiered on April 13, 2018. The album released by the Polish Radio Music Agency was recorded by chamber musicians who have been performing together for many years. During the concert we will hear Kurpie Song – the acclaimed work of Karol Szymanowski. It was composed with Paweł Kochański, who was a co-author of transcription for violin and piano. The concert will also feature works by the patron of the Łódź Academy – Grażyna Bacewicz. Violin works occupy an important place in her compositional output. In the works intended for this instrument, the composer used her excellent knowledge of violin technique and concert experience. The concert will feature: Mazovian Dance, Slav Dance and Stained Glass. In addition to music by Szymanowski and Bacewicz, the Polish Suite by Szymon Laks, Polish Dance from the ballet Song of the Earth by Roman Palester and Three Miniatures by Juliusz Łuciuk will be performed. The performers of the evening will be violinist Aleksandra Szwejkowska-Belica and pianist Cezary Sanecki, the rector of the Academy of Music in Łódź.
Admission to the event is free.
