The10th jubilee edition of CODES – The Festival of Traditional and Avant-garde Music, inspired by the word "crossroads" and organized in Lublin by the center of the same name, will be held on May 9-12, 2018.
The main axis of this year's Festival takes place between XX and XXI century, at the crossroads of time. The first festival concert-spectacle will feature iconic pieces of XX century music by György Ligeti, Sofia Gubaidulina, and Arvo Pärt, complemented by the premiere of Rafał Ryterski's per - prelude, interludes & postlude – electronic music, which was commissioned by the festival KODY.
The final concert-spectacle "Polonia", performed by the Slovenian group Laibach, will feature Andrzej Panufnik's Sinfonia Sacra, written for the millennium of the baptism of Poland. Symphonic (Symphony Orchestra of the Lviv Philharmonic) and choral (Chamber Gloria Choir) sounds will collide with a dadaistic rock style and impressive visuality. The concert will be conducted by Filip Rathé.
