On 15 August 2021 at 7.00 p.m. the Penderecki Youth Orchestra – an orchestra founded on the initiative of the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music – will perform works by Antonin Dvořák, Krzysztof Penderecki and Grażyna Bacewicz. The day before, Jakub Kuszlik will give a Chopin recital.
Jakub Kuszlik was a student of Prof. Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. He is a laureate of national and international piano competitions. In 2019 he won the 2nd prize in one of the most important piano competitions in the United States – the "Hilton Head Piano Competition". The pianist has performed not only in Europe, but also in the United States, Iceland and Japan.
Penderecki Youth Orchestra was established in 2018 by bringing together talented young people aged 16 to 19 associated with Lusławice. By participating in the projects of the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music, the orchestra supports the institution's mission of being a meeting place for students with masters, young talents with renowned artists. During the upcoming concert, PYO under the baton of Maciej Tworek will present Grażyna Bacewicz's Concerto for String Orchestra, Krzysztof Penderecki's Chaconne from Polish Requiem, and Antonín Dvořák's Serenade for Strings in E major, Op. 22.
