Miejsca wspólne. Virtual Festival of Polish Contemporary Music

Miejsca wspolneFrom the July 11th to September 2020 we will be able to experience equivalent of musical festival without leaving our homes. The festival is based on the idea of creating a “common place”, in which people will be able to listen to more or less known Polish contemporary composers, learn about the work of Polish composers and discover young Polish performers – all of this connected with the key of topoi, loci communes, common places such as: love, death, nature, ritual dream, labirynth, fairy tales, past and future.

The festival, which will consist of 9 virtual concerts, will be hosted on http://miejscawspolnefestiwal.pl/ for 3 months. The concerts will be created using existing – new and upcoming – pieces of contemporary compositions. Each of them will be accompanied by an original programme essay, touching upon the themes relevant to the selected works, which will help to understand and experience the music more deeply. The programme assumptions are "3x Poland": a cross-sectional view of Polish contemporary music creators – from the classics of the 20th century to the youngest generation of artists; bringing out the work of female composers and only Polish performers – ensembles and soloists specialising in the performance of contemporary music. The event will include Music Criticism Workshops.

Implemented as part of the scholarship program of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage “Kultura w sieci”.
