"Miejscówka z Dwójką": Violinist Agata Szymczewska in tribute to Henryk Wieniawski

DwojkaAgata Szymczewska will present the most beautiful works of Henryk Wieniawski on the 186th anniversary of the birth of this outstanding violinist and composer. The renowned violinist will perform in the next "Miejscówka z Dwójką", which is the summer edition of the "Domówka z Dwójką" series. The event  will be broadcas on Saturday, 10 July 2021 at 7.00 p.m. on the air of the Polish Radio Channel 2 and – in the form of video streaming – on the website Dwojka.polskieradio.pl, Facebook and YouTube channel.

Agata Szymczewska is the winner of the 1st Prize, the Gold Medal and the Audience Award in the 13th Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Poznań (2006). The artist regularly performs on renowned stages in Europe, Asia and the Americas, gaining recognition from critics, conductors, as well as orchestras and festivals with which she collaborates. The violinist gave concerts under the baton of, among others, Seiji Ozawa, Sir Neville Marriner, Riccardo Muti, Andrzej Boreyko, Maxim Vengerov, Krzysztof Penderecki, John Axelrod, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Jacek Kasprzyk, Krzysztof Urbański, Michał Nesterowicz, Antoni Wit, Jan Krenz and at the Royal Festival Hall of the London Philharmonic Orchestra led by Osmo Vänskä.

An important part of her work, apart from solo concerts, is chamber music. Agata Szymczewska performed with many outstanding artists, such as Krystian Zimerman, Martha Argerich, Igor Levit, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Gidon Kremer, Maxim Vengerov, Mischa Maisky and Yuri Bashmet . Since 2014, Agata Szymczewska has been the principal violinist of the renowned Karol Szymanowski Quartet. In recent years, she has been honored, among others, by Polityka's Passport, TVP Kultura Award in the classical music category and four Fryderyk awards. Her phonographic output includes several CDs and DVDs, including by Deutsche Grammophon, Sony Music, Decca, Hyperion Records, SWR Music, Universal Music, CD Accord.

During the performance for the listeners of Polish Radio Channel 2 and Internet users, Agata Szymczewska will be accompanied by Elżbieta Neumann (piano). The artists will play in the Concert Hall of the "Nowa Miodowa" State Music School Complex, where Agata Szymczewska teaches the violin.
