The New Year's concerts, organized by the "Wieliczka" Salt Mine and the Krakow Opera, will take place on January 5 and 6, 2019 at 6.00 p.m.
The events will be held in one of the most beautiful spaces of the "Wieliczka" Salt Mine – "Warszawa" chamber, located 125 meters underground. Every year they attract audiences from Krakow, as well as guests from all over Poland and abroad. This year, the concerts will feature Katarzyna Oleś-Blach, Iwona Socha, Monika Korybalska, Krzysztof Kozarek, Adam Sobierajski and the Krakow Opera Orchestra conducted by Tomasz Tokarczyk.
The programme will include fragments of popular operettas, such as Lottery for husbands by K. Szymanowski, The Bird Seller by K. Zeller, The Merry Widow by F. Lehár, The Bat and The Gypsy Baron by J. Strauss, Clivia by N. Dostal, and The Csardas Princess by E. Kálmán. In the second part of the concert we will hear Italian hits, including Neapolitan songs: Torna and Surriento by Ernesto De Curtis, Santa Lucia by Teodoro Cottrau, Felicita by C. Minellono, Lasciatemi cantare by T. Cutugno, and Volare by D. Modugno.
