New York | The Music of Karol Rathaus and His Legacy: Five Concerts and Two Lectures

The Music of Karol Rathaus and His Legacy festival will take place on November 9-22, 2022 in New York. The organizers of the event are: Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College, Center for Jewish Studies in New York, Association of Polish Chamber Musicians, Polish Cultural Institute New York, Karol Rathaus Foundation, Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the University of Silesia.

During the Festival, the music of Karol Rathaus, as well as other Polish composers of Jewish origin will be presented, including Szymon Laks, Mieczysław Wajnberg, Ignacy Friedman, Aleksander Tansman, Tadeusz Kassern. Performers will be: Karol Rathaus Ensemble, Piotr Lato and Joseph Rutkowski (clarinet), Steven Beck, Michael Boriskin, Grzegorz Mania and Monika Gardon-Preinl (piano), Magdalena Filipczak and Karolina Mikołajczyk (violin), Iwo Jedynecki (accordion), Alice Jones ( flute), Sarah Song (cello). 

In addition, at Queens College, where Rathaus lectured, Jolanta Guzy-Pasiak and Aleksandra Hałat will give lectures dedicated to his work.
