Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC
During the concert of the Opole Philharmonic, commemorating the events of the 1918, on the 11th of November at 7 p.m., Witold Maliszewski's Piano Concerto and Edward Elgar's "Polonia" Symphonic Prelude will be performed. The recognized pianist Marcin Koziak, who has presented Polish music in 22 countries in Europe, Asia and North America, will perform as a soloist.
In July 2023, 150 years have passed since the birth of Witold Maliszewski. One of the last works of this composer - Piano Concerto in B flat minor - was written in 1938. The symphonic prelude "Polonia" by Edward Elgar was created in 1915, commissioned by Emil Młynarski. In the British composer's work, the melodies of Dąbrowski's Mazurka, the songs With the Smoke of Fires, Chopin's Nocturne in G minor and Paderewski's Polish Fantasy are intertwined with the main motif taken from Warszawianka 1905.
The Opole Philharmonic Orchestra will perform conducted by Przemysław Neumann, director of the institution.
