The premiere of the oratory "Oto Matka Twoja", written by Krakow composers Piotr Pałka and Paweł Bębenko, based on the libretto by Sr. Leonia (Maria Przybyło), will take place on August 13, 2018 at 9.00 p.m. in Kalwaria Pacławska near Przemyśl.
The occasion is the celebration of the 350th anniversary of the Sanctuary of Passion of Christ and of Our Lady of Calvary –the most important pilgrimage site in the Podkarpacie region. In the Sanctuary in Kalwaria Pacławska, the miraculous image of the Mother of God, which came to this place from Kamieniec Podolski, is venerated. Jan Kazimierz and Jan III Sobieski as well as Polish hetmans and princes once prayed before it.
The musical event will be preceded by a solemn Holy Mass, which will be held at. 6.00 p.m. under the leadership of Fr. Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, chairman of the Polish Episcopate Conference, and by the unveiling of the monument of Fr. Cardinal Karol Wojtyla, who pilgrimage to Kalwaria Pacławska 50 years ago.
The oratorio will be performed by Sanocki Chamber Choir and Podkarpacie Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Elżbieta Przystasz. Among the soloists we will hear: Barbara Mroczek (soprano), Agnieszka Piwko (alto), Piotr Piwko (tenor) and Andrzej Zawisza (bass). The concert is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the "Composition Commissions" programme, implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance.
