The Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra begins the concert tour in Russia, performing under the direction of Krzysztof Penderecki and Alexander Sladkovski. The programme of the concerts, which will take place in Perm, Moscow and St. Petersburg includes, among others, works by Chopin, Moniuszko and Penderecki. The project is partly financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage under the “Promotion of Polish Culture Abroad” programme.
Sinfonia Varsovia will begin its concerts in Russia on 15 November in the city of Perm, which lies at the foot of the Ural Mountains. In the city’s Philharmonic, the Orchestra will play under the direction of Alexander Sladkovski. The programme will feature Stanisław Moniuszko's Fairy Tale Fantastic Overture, Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 in D minor, Op.70 and Fryderyk Chopin’s Piano Concerto in E minor, Op. 11. The solo part will be performed by Philipp Kopachevsky - young Russian pianist, winner of many international competitions.
On 17 November Sinfonia Varsovia will perform in the famous Concert Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. This time the orchestra will be conducted by its artistic director – Krzysztof Penderecki. Maestro will conduct his own work: Concerto doppio per violino, viola e orchestra, featuring Russian violinist Nikita Borisoglebski and Ukrainian viola player Maxim Rysanov. The other works in the programme are Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony No.1 in D major “Classical”, Op. 25 and Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No.7 in D minor, Op.70. The artists will play the same repertoire 2 days later in the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.
