After a several years interval, the Witold Lutosławski International Cello Competition returns to the calendar of the most important European music events. The organizer of the upcoming edition of the competition is the National Institute of Music and Dance, and co-organized by its long-time creator, the Foundation for the Promotion of Young Cellists. The competition is addressed to cellists who are under 30 years old on the 1st of May, 2024. The deadline for submitting applications is the 20th of February, 2024.
This year's edition of the competition will be particularly attractive both in terms of the programme and statutory prizes, the pool of which is EUR 41,500. The winners will also receive extra-regulatory special prizes in the form of concerts on the stages of Polish and foreign music institutions. It is also worth emphasizing that the Competition will be broadcast online for the first time.
The competition auditions will take place on May 1-11, 2024 at the Warsaw Philharmonic. It will culminate in an awards ceremony combined with a concert of the winners, scheduled for the 12th of May, 2024.
