The 17th composers' concert "Stave for the Pope" will be held on 2 June 2021 at 7.00 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Artus Court in Toruń. The series is organised by the Pomeranian Music Society and the Kuyavian-Pomeranian branch of the Polish Composers' Union to commemorate Saint John Paul II 's visit to Toruń and Bydgoszcz on 7 June 1999.
The evening will commemorate the Polish Pope as a great lover of art. Traditionally, the concert will feature contemporary solo and chamber music written by composers from the region: Aleksandra Brejza, Magdalena Cynk, Ewa Fabiańska-Jelińska, Aleksandra Garbal, Marcin Kopczyński, Rafał Kłoczko, Piotr Komorowski, Zuzanna Koziej, Dariusz Kubicki and Piotr Perkowski.
The works will be performerd by the composers themselves together with talented musicians: Maria Agacińska, Małgorzata Furche-Jurczyk, Katarzyna Jaracz, Witold Kawalec, Robert Matusiak, Magdalena Miszewska -orytna, Agnieszka Olszewska and Stanisław Oracz. The artists associated with the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, presenting their works in tribute to the Polish Pope, will at the same time celebrate the ongoing Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship Day.
