A scientific conference "In white and black. Piano music at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries" will take place at the Art Academy in Szczecin on December 6-7, 2018.

The aim of the project is to analyze issues related to piano music at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. The core of the theoretical part will be lectures by contemporary Polish composers and outstanding performers of new music as well as concerts presenting practical aspects of discussed issues. The intention of the undertaking is to create a platform for artistic and scientific dialogue between the Academy of Arts and other artistic and scientific centers in Poland, enabling the exchange of views between artists, performers, theoreticians and all those interested in contemporary music issues.

The invitation to participate in the conference was accepted by: prof. Sławomir Czarnecki (University of Casimir the Great in Bydgoszcz), dr hab. prof. AM Magdalena Lisak (Academy of Music in Katowice), dr hab. prof. AM Artur Kroschel (Academy of Music in Poznań), dr Anna Ignatowicz-Glińska (Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw), dr Katarzyna Kwiecień-Długosz (University of Zielona Góra), dr Aldona Nawrocka-Woźniak (Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw) and dr hab . Marcin Kopczyński (Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz). The Academy of Arts in Szczecin will be represented by dr Alicja Delecka-Bury and dr Artur Cieślak, who will give a speech on Piano music for the left hand – challenges and consequences. The concerts will feature works by Artur Cieślak, Sławomir Czarnecki, Ryszard Gabrysia, Aleksandra Garbal, Anna Ignatowicz-Glińska, Artur Kroschel, Katarzyna Kwiecień-Długosz, Marcin Kopczyński and Dariusz Przybylski. There will also be a premiere of reb / ​​el II (2018) for piano and electronics by Aldona Nawrocka. The conference will be accompanied by an exhibition of works by Tomasz Hancia.
