To Andrzej Chodkowski for his birthday

Andrzej Chodkowski, an important figure of Polish musicology, honored member of the Polish Composers’ Union, celebrated his 90^th birthday on the 25^th of February 2022.  He used to be vice president (1969-71 and 1981-85) as well as president of the Polish Composer’s Union (1989-1993).

His main field of work was music history of the eighteenth and nineteenth century. He is the author of the very popular Little Encyclopedia of Music (PWN 1968) and later the Encyclopedia of Music (PWM 1995).

He is also the author of brodcast cycles in the 2^nd Programme of the Polish Radio.

He is remembered by his students at the musicology and theory of music departments at the Warsaw University as well as at the Warsaw Music Academy and at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz.
