MMMM

The Municipal Community Center of Stalowa Wola and the M4 Composers' Conglomerate announce the 'Young Musicians for the Young City 2.0' composition competition. The event is a part of the Young Musicians for the Young City Festival, returning to Stalowa Wola after forty years.

The five previous editions of the festival (1975-1980) were organised on the initiative of music theorist and critic Krzysztof Droba. The competition, which was always an important part of the festival, aimed at promoting the work of the young generation of composers. This year Aleksander Lasoń and Eugeniusz Knapik – the laureates of the 1970's editions of the competition – will be part the Jury next to Zygmunt Krauze, Ewa Strusińska and Paweł Siek (secretary).

The competition is intended for composers of Polish nationality born after 10 October 1985. Its subject is a piece for chamber ensemble (4 to 11 performers, with or without a conductor) with a duration of 8 to 12 minutes.

The prize pool in the competition is PLN 20,000. The results will be announced on 28 November 2020 during the final concert of the Young Musicians for the Young City Festival in Stalowa Wola. The winning compositions will be premiered by the Spółdzielnia Muzyczna Contemporary Ensemble under the direction of Ewa Strusińska and professionally recorded by the organisers. A special prize in the form of a printed publication of the winning work will be awarded by the Ars Musica Publishing House.

Electronic applications should be sent by 10 October 2020. Each composer may submit more than one score, there is no entry free.
