The beginnings of chamber music in the Krakow university date back to 1957, when seven departments were established at the State Higher School of Music. One of them was the Chair of Piano and Chamber Music directed by prof. Jan Hoffman. A separate, independent Chair of Chamber Music was established in 1972.
