On the 21st of October, 2022 at the I. J. Paderewski Pomeranian Philharmonic, as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the renowned Polish conductor Zbigniew Chwedczuk and the 50th anniversary of the end of his mission as artistic director of the Pomeranian Philharmonic, an exhibition devoted to him will be opened (at 6.00 p.m.) and a gala symphonic concert (at 7.00 p.m.) will take place.
The aim of the project is to preserve and digitize the private archive of Zbigniew Chwedczuk - a prominent figure on the Polish musical scene, especially in the artistic circles of Bydgoszcz and the Pomeranian region, a conductor, composer and long-lasting artistic director of the Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz (1958-1972) and the Baltic Opera, a recipient of the Gold Cross of Merit and the Order of Polonia Restituta, for whom the overriding goal was to promote Polish music through performances and recordings. In 2021 he would be celebrating his 100th birthday and in 2022 the 50th anniversary as the artistic director of the Philharmonic.
