The Feliks Konopasek Composition Competition is a new initiative, a part of the endeavors to support and popularize the activities of Polish wind orchestras, launched by the National Institute of Music and Dance in 2024.
The aim of the competition is to create artistically valuable pieces that can become a permanent part of the repertoire for Polish wind ensembles, both professional and amateur. The competition also aims to promote music dedicated to wind orchestras and to encourage composers to create original works for this instrumentation.
The patron of the competition is Feliks Konopasek (1860–1930) – a Polish composer, conductor, educator, and activist who made significant contributions in many fields, including the amateur music movement.
