Violinist Rafał Zambrzycki-Payne, horn player Krzysztof Tomczyk and pianist Piotr Sałajczyk will perform works by Beethoven, Lutosławski and Ligeti on February 23, 2017 at the Concert Hall of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice.
The artist will interpret Sonata in F major, Op. 17 by Ludwig van Beethoven, Partita for violin and piano by Witold Lutosławski and Trio by György Ligeti. Partita is one of the most important works by Lutosławski, written over the course of 2 months in 1984. It was commissioned by violinist Pinchas Zukerman who, at that time, held the position of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and soon became a significant part of the violin repertoire. Having listened to Anne-Sophie Mutter perform his piece, Lutosławski arranged it for violin and orchestra.
