Katowice | Inauguration of 78th artistic season of Choir and Symphony Orchestra o the Silesian Philharmonic

POLMICMedia patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

The 78th artistic season of the Silesian Philharmonic will be inaugurated by a concert of the Choir and Symphony Orchestra conducted by Yaroslav Shemet - a conductor who will perform for the first time not only as head of the Orchestra, but also as artistic director of the Silesian Philharmonic. On the 16th of September, 2022 at 7.00 p.m. we will hear works by Richard Strauss, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki and Wojciech Kilar.

The concert will open with a composition that is known to everyone, regardless of music knowledge: Also sprach Zarathustra of Richard Strauss.

The second item on the programme will be Henryk Mikołaj Górecki's Kyrie, one of his last works, part of the mass to have been commissioned by John Paul II.

In the final of the evening we will hear the monumental Exodus by Wojciech Kilar - in the year of his 90th birthday, which was celebrated in July.

Before the concert, in the chamber hall at 6.00 p.m., we invite you to an event from the series ‘Meetings with passion’ with the participation of Yaroslav Shemet and Adam Wesołowski.

Concert under the patronage of PWM Edition as part of the TUTTI.pl project promoting performance of Polish music.
