In the Year of Stanisław Moniuszko, the Institution for the Promotion and Dissemination of Music "Silesia" celebrates the 200th birth anniversary of the father of the Polish national opera with the series of concerts "Moniuszko from the heart". Participants of the 10th Stanisław Moniuszko International Vocal Competition in Warsaw will perform on 30 April 2019 at 6.00 p.m. in the Polish Radio Concert Studio in Katowice (29 Ligonia St.).
During the April concert organized by "Silesia" in cooperation with the Grand Theater – National Opera in Warsaw, we will listen to three participants of the Opera Academy and the "Programme for the Development of Young Talents". Karolina Makuła is a graduate of the Feliks Nowowiejski Music Academy in Bydgoszcz in the class of prof. Hanna Michalak. Jan Żądło graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Music Acadmy in Katowice under the direction of dr Adam Szerszeń, and currently he pursues doctoral studies at his alma mater. Mateusz Hoedt was educated at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław in the class of prof. Bogdan Makala, and in recent years at the Opera Academy of the Paris National Opera.
In Katowice, these talented vocalists will present selected works from the competition repertoire, which, in reference to the competition regulations, includes not only Polish music, but also arias and songs from world vocal literature. We will listen to, among others, works by Karol Kurpiński, Stanisław Moniuszko and Ignacy Jan Paderewski.
