Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

Foundation for the Assistance and Development of the Music School Complex in Toruń and the Music School Complex in Toruń announce the 7^th Piotr Perkowski Composition Competition. It is intended for students of secondary music schools in Poland and for composers born no earlier than 2002. The subject of the competition is to compose a piece referring to one of the movements of an old baroque suite. Works should be sent by e-mail by the 29^th of August, 2024, 11:59 p.m.

The competition aims to restore the harpsichord role of a solo instrument and to emphasize the importance of genres, forms and techniques created in the Baroque era.

School ensembles and soloists will perform the works, so the level of difficulty must take intoaccount the abilities of students of a second-level music school. The solo instrument will be a French harpsichord, one-manual with two octave registers.

Work duration: 4 - 7 minutes.
