"On the trail of Polish composers: Markowicz / Karłowicz" is a project of the Polish Art Philharmonic orchestra and the Myślenice Cultural Centre. The works of two outstanding composers will be presented on 25-27 August 2021 at 7.00 p.m. at the philharmonic stages in Rzeszów, Katowice and Opole.
The idea behind this concert series is to promote the work of Polish composers and performers, as well as the artistic output of the Polish Art Philharmonic Orchestra, which has been contributing to the development of musical culture in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship and the popularization of Polish music internationally for over 10 years.
The Polish Art Philharmonic Orchestra together with the famous violinist and composer Marcin Markowicz will perform three concerts under the baton of maestro Michał Maciaszczyk. The programme will include Serenade for strings, Op. 2 by Mieczysław Karłowicz – one of the most important figures in the history of Polish music at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, a master of orchestration and the genre of symphonic poem – and Concerto for violin and string orchestra by Marcin Markowicz. The concerts will be held on 25 August at the Artur Malawski Subcarpathian Philharmonic in Rzeszów, on 26 August at the Henryk Mikołaj Górecki Silesian Philharmonic in Katowice, and on 27 August at the Józef Elsner Opole Philharmonic.
Co-financed by the "Music" programme carried out by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
