The world premiere of Krzysztof Herdzin's cycle "Głos człowieczy" in Cracow

On November 17, 2024, at 5:00 PM, the new cycle of the Polish Radio Choir – Lusławice titled "Szukam słowa" will be inaugurated at the Saski Hotel in Cracow. The project serves as a platform for the presentation of works of outstanding contemporary Polish poets and Polish music. The premiere of Krzysztof Herdzin's cycle Głos człowieczy, created specifically for the Polish Radio Choir – Lusławice and maestro Maria Piotrowska-Bogalecka, will be presented. In this work, the composer juxtaposes the texts of Zbigniew Herbert and Czesław Miłosz.

The performance will include 10 choral songs to the words of Zbigniew Herbert on the 100th anniversary of his birth, as well as Czesław Miłosz in the year marking the 20th anniversary of the poet's death. The composer reflects in these pieces on the human journey on Earth, the difficulty of choices, the search for meaning, and loneliness, combining inspirations from both jazz and contemporary music.

The program will also feature Eugeniusz Knapik's composition Niebieskie morze i żagle, set to Czesław Miłosz's poem Dar.

The concert of the Polish Radio Choir is funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the "Music" program, supported by the National Institute of Music and Dance and the Polish Radio Choir Foundation – Cracow.
