The Artistic Director of the NDI Sopot Classic International Music Festival, Szymon Morus, and the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Sopot invite young composers to participate in the 8th Krzysztof Penderecki Composition Competition, which will be held as part of the 15th edition of the NDI Sopot Classic International Music Festival. The Competition is open to individuals born no earlier than April 8, 1990. The deadline for submitting scores is April 8, 2025.
The competition, held since the festival's inception, aims not only to promote young composers but also to pay tribute to the legacy of the outstanding Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki. The subject of this year's competition is a work for string orchestra. The duration should be between 6 and 10 minutes, and each composer may submit a maximum of three pieces. The finalists will present their compositions during a concert as part of the NDI Sopot Classic Festival, after which the winners will be announced.
