The "Art and Passion" Foundation, in collaboration with the Polish Composers Union, is organizing the Witold Maliszewski Composers' Competition as part of the 7th Witold Maliszewski Festival in 2025. The goal of the competition is to honor the figure of the festival’s patron and celebrate the 100th anniversary of Zalesie Dolne. The competition involves composing a piece for string quartet or string quintet, consisting of 2 violins, viola, cello, and double bass. The submission deadline is April 25, 2025 (by 11:59 PM).
Compositions can be in any form and style (without electronics). The duration of the piece should be between 8 and 12 minutes.
Submitted works, marked with a pseudonym, must not have been previously awarded, performed, or recorded. A separate attachment with the composer’s details, under the same pseudonym, should be sent and will be kept confidential by the competition secretary until the results are announced.
The three-person jury of the competition has been appointed by the Polish Composers Union and consists of: Paweł Łukaszewski, Sławomir Czarnecki, and Piotr Komorowski. Administrative support will be provided by the competition secretary.

The results of the competition will be announced by May 10, 2025. The cash prizes are:
1st prize – 6,000 PLN
2nd prize – 4,000 PLN
3rd prize – 3,000 PLN
The premiere performance of the winning works will take place during a ceremonial concert on May 25, 2025, in Zalesie Dolne.
The competition is under the honorary patronage of the Polish Composers Union, the Piaseczno County Mayor Ewa Lubianiec, and the Mayor of Piaseczno Town and Commune Daniel Putkiewicz.
