Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

Recruitment for the performance competition within the 2^nd Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition will start on the 1^st of November, 2022. The Performance Competition (violin, piano, string quartet) is intended for people born in the years 1991-2006. In the ‘Voice’ category, the competition is intended for female singers born in 1991-2003 and male singers born in 1988-2003.

Registration for the competition will take place from 1^st of November 2022 to 31^st January 2023 at www.szymanowski-competition.appassimo.com

Young instrumentalists and singers will present their skills by performing not only the pieces selected in the composition competition, but also the works of the competition patron and those based on the canon of classical music.

The 9^th International Cello Academy will be held between the 20^th and 30^th of July, 2022 in Nysa. Polish Cello Quartet is the organizer of the event.

Cellists: Jelena Očić (Croatia), Hyun-Jung Berger (Germany / Korea) and Julius Berger (Germany) will take part in the event.

As part of the 9th MAW Festival, there will be six concerts, during which both participants and MAW teachers (including the only cello orchestra in Poland) will perform. The concert programme will include, among others, works by Marcin Markowicz, Witold Szalonek, Kazimierz Wiłkomirski and Krzysztof Penderecki.

The programme of the 45^th Karol Szymanowski Music Days taking place between the 24^th and 31^st of July in Zakopane will be dominated by the patron's music: in 2022 he would celebrate his 140^th birthday.

Szymanowski's music is always present in the Festival programme, as well as the works of the composer's contemporaries. The programme of this year's Days will include the works of Szymanowski's peer, Romanian composer born a year earlier, George Enescu (1881). We will also hear works by Grażyna Bacewicz, Marcin Błażewicz, Sławomir Czarnecki, Jerzy Fitelberg, Witold Friemann, Wojciech Kilar, Szymon Laks, Krzysztof Penderecki and Mieczysław Wajnberg.

Co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the ‘Music’ and ‘Composers’ Commissions’ programmes, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.

On the 23^rd of July, 2022 at 19:00 in the church of Christ the Good Shepherd, the next edition of the Summer Festival Pieniny - Culture - Sacrum will begin and will last until August 13. Admission to the concerts is free!

The four concerts will be attended by award-winning organ virtuosos who represent various music centers in Poland, who are also teachers at music academies: Marek Stefański from Cracow, Krzysztof Lukas from Katowice, Jan Bokszczanin from Warsaw and the Silesian artist Władysław Szymański.

Not only organ music will fill summer Saturday evenings in the Pieniny Mountains.

On the 23^rd of July, 2022 at 6.00 p.m. at the Centre for the Thought of John Paul II, there will be an exhibition of student photography ‘Ciałość’. The exhibition will be accompanied by a music installation created by Wojciech Chałupka specifically for this occasion.

The exhibition ‘Ciałość’ is organized by the scholarship holders of the City of Warsaw: Alicja Sobiepańska and Wojciech Chałupka, as part of the ‘Realize the project’ programme carried out at the Centre for the Thought of John Paul II.

The name ‘Ciałość’ was created from a combination of the words body and whole and reflects what the curators would like to show at this exhibition, i.e. the whole body - its beauty, but also ugliness, perfection and imperfection, as well as the relationship with the body, the diversity of bodies, but also rebuilding of body awareness. ‘Ciałość’ in its meaning wants to encourage delicacy, awareness and self-acceptance in relation to one's own body by clashing one's body image with that captured with the camera by artists.
