Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

The concerts of the 36th Warsaw Music Meetings will take place between May 15–20,2022 at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of the Polish Radio, Ujazdowski Castle Center for Contemporary Art, Fryderyk Chopin University of Music and the Evangelical Reformed Church. The organizer of the festival is the Warsaw Branch of the Polish Composers' Union.

We will hear 7 premieres, including a piece commissioned and co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage as part of the ‘Composing Commissions’ programme carried out by the National Institute of Music and Dance.

On the 16^th of May the forgotten music of the pre-war Warsaw composer Juliusz Wertheim, as well as Tadeusz Paciorkiewicz and Wanda Landowska will be performed. At the concert ‘Per musicam ad astra’ on the 17^th of May, Leszek Lorent and Jan Gralla will perform works by Marcin Błażewicz, Paweł Buczyński, Adam Sławiński and Marta Śniada, who debuts at the festival. On the 18^th of May the early music ensemble Il Tempo led by Prof. Agata Sapiecha will present Heinrich Biber's Mystery Sonatas and the premiere of the Five Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary by Anna Ignatowicz-Glińska and Mysteria Luminos by Rafał Janiak.

The Board of the Polish Composers' Union expresses its firm objection to the breaking of the cooperation by Polish Radio with Ms. Dorota Kozińska in response to her post concerning the anniversary of the Smolensk catastrophe on her Facebook account.

Being convinced that this post is not in line with culture of language, which our environment should care for, we also believe that freedom of speech is the supreme value in a democratic state and Polish Radio is also obliged to respect it.

On the 9^th of May 2022 the Jury composed of: Zygmunt Krauze (chairman), Rafał Augustyn, Beata Bolesławska-Lewandowska, Mieczysław Kominek, Tadeusz Wielecki and Małgorzata Woźna-Stankiewicz awarded the Annual Awards of the Polish Composers' Union for 2022.

The winners of the Awards are:

Jerzy Kornowicz - for outstanding artistic creativity and extraordinary activity for the benefit of the ZKP community and the entire Polish culture.

Dorota Kozińska - for rich critical, essay and translation work, covering vast areas of music, with particular emphasis on music theater.

The annual Polish Composers' Union Prize has been awarded since 1949 - to 1991 to honor authors and performers for their outstanding achievements in the field of music and since 1991 - to ‘Polish composers, performers, musicologists, educators and organizers of musical life for outstanding achievements’. The award ceremony is planned for September during the 65th Warsaw Autumn Festival.

On the 14^th of May 2022 Jaga Hupało Born To Create studio invites you to an artistic and fashion journey on both sides of the Vistula river: at Burakowska street 5/7 , to the Old Lace Factory and at Kłopotowskiego street 11, to the Former Factory of Machines and Mill Stones.

This year's edition of the Night of Museums theme, organized by the Pracownia Jagi Hupało, is ‘Persistence’. Great Masters, young talents, artists of many generations from various fields of art will present their interpretation of the concept of durability. Tradition will be shown using modern means of expression.

The premiere of two pieces by Aleksandra Chmielewska, Czerwone jabłuszko and Cichy zapada zmrok for guitar, piano, voice and cello will take place. The pieces will be performed by Walicki Popiołek Duo and the band Julia Topolanek-Pacan & Bartłomiej Pacan.

The programme will also include a ballet performance by the Oberemok duo, a performance by Kasia Korus in combination with the music of Miss God, a concert by Rafał Betlejewski's ‘Gorgeous’ band, Łukasz Błażejewski and Patryk Kaczanowski's Oath performance, an audiovisual show by Ari Dykier and Marta Mulawa's ‘Korowód hearts’.

The ‘Sound Gallery’ project will be presented at the National Forum of Music as part of the Night of Museums on the 14^th of May 2022.

It is a special event of the Musica Polonica Nova Festival. In the foyer of the NFM Paweł Romańczuk's Internal Visit installation and installations by students and graduates of the Multimedia Activities Studio of the Design Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice will be presented.

LutosAir Quintet will perform Hanna Kulenty's new composition Alias
commissioned as part of the 'Composers' commissions' programme implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
