Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

On the 9^th of May 9 2022 at the Polish Travelers Kindergarten No. 55 iin Warsaw the first workshop of this year's edition of the ‘Tell me a fairy tale' project will take place. Thanks to the cooperation with the Ursynów District of Warsaw children will get to know the world of contemporary music, improvisations and various instruments.

This year there will be a total of 22 workshops for kindergarten and school groups as well as for children and their parents: in May and June in Ursynów, Warsaw, from October to December in Mrągowo, Zakrzewo, Krajenka, Łobżenica, Kłodzko and Domaszków.

The musical guests of the upcoming workshop will be: beatboxer Patryk "Tik Tak" Matela, double bass player Małgorzata Kołcz and composer and pianist Jarosław Siwiński.

On the 8^th of May 2022 the New Music Orchestra conducted of Szymon Bywalec will perform a piece by Tomasz Praszczałek (Prasqual) Canti Lussuriosi e Seriosi for soprano, mezzo-soprano, reciter, double orchestra of soloists and electronics at the NOSPR concert hall. Joanna Freszel and Marta Wryk will perform as soloists.

As composer says 'Talks and Songs about Love' were written in 2021/2022 and are based on the texts of Renaissance poetry: Sonetti Lussuriosi (Lust Sonnets) by the Italian poet Pietro Aretino (1492–1556) and the Song of the Sun by St. Francis of Assisi.'

The programme of a special concert of the Warsaw Philharmonic Choir on the 8^th of May  2022 at 6 p.m. is an artistic response to the events we have been witnessing since the 24^th of February 2022. At the concert hall of the Warsaw Philharmonic works by composers from Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia will be performed.

The concert repertoire is not only a musical call for peace (Pärt - Da pacem Domine, Vasks - Dona nobis pacem), not only a farewell to women, men and children - victims of Russian aggression against Ukraine (Ešenvalds - In paradisum), but above all a reminder that music, as a universal language, connects people regardless of their geographical boundaries, age, origin or religion.

Noteworthy is the variety of the concert repertoire - starting from the stylistically characteristic compositions of Arvo Pärt and Valentin Sylwestrow, through the works of Michał Ziółkowski and Łukasz Urbaniak - awarded young Polish composers, as well as works by Lesia Dyczko, Pēteris Vasks, Vytautas Miškinis and Ēraldis Miškinis, rooted in the musical traditions of the composers’ countries and performed by the best choirs in various parts of the world.

The orchestra conducted by Marta Gardolińska and the violinist Linus Roth as a soloist will present the Violin Concerto in A major, Op. 8 by Mieczysław Karłowicz and Symphony No. 7 in D minor, Op. 70 by Antonín Dvořák at the NOSPR Symphonic Morning on the 8^th of May 2022 at 12.00.

‘To Professor Stanisław Barcewicz as a token of his adoration and gratitude’ Karłowicz dedicated his Violin Concerto. The composer who died tragically in the Tatry mountains was initially educated to play the violin. Eventually however he bacame a composer. The concert was presented in Berlin, Vienna and Warsaw, each time provoking positive reactions from the audience and critics' opinions.

Dvořák did not dedicate Symphony No. 7 to Brahms, but he wrote it being deeply influenced by the Master's Symphony No. 3. He was afraid that the new work would not meet his expectations, which today seems unjustified, because by many it is considered the most perfect in the composer's oeuvre and appreciated for its subtle depth of expression, melodic richness, orchestration and perfect formal structure.

On the 8^th of May2022 at 6.00 p.m. at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław Gustav Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde will be performed by the Czech singer Magdalena Kožena. The Orchestre des Champs-Élysées conducted by Philippe Herreweghe will accompany the singer.

Philippe Herreweghe is celebrating his 75^th birthday on the 2^nd of May and will inaugurate his jubilee concert tour with a performance in Wrocław. He has been working in the field of baroque music for over forty years. He is an important figure of a revolution in the approach to early music.

Orchester des Champs-Élysées celebrates its 30^th anniversary this year.
