Chorzów | "Moniuszko from the heart"

Another concert of the "Moniuszko from the Heart" series will take place on 23 June 2019 at 12am in the Chorzów Museum (25 Powstańców St.).

The concert dedicated to the composer whose 200th birth anniversary is celebrated this year is organised by the Institution for the Promotion and Dissemination of Music "Silesia" in cooperation with the Museum in Chorzów. The programme will include the famous arias and duet Już ogień płonie from The Haunted Manor as well as less frequently performed songs of Stanisław Moniuszko and Jewa's dumka from the opera Jawnuta premiered in Vilnius in 1852.

Moniuszko's music will be performed by Karolina Borodziuk, this year's graduate of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice in the class of dr hab. prof. AM Agata Kobierska and laureate, among others, of the 1st prize and two special prizes at the International Rudolf Petraka Vocal Competition in Żylin (Slovakia 2018) and the 3rd place in the 5th Intercollegiate Chamber Competition for Instrumental and Vocal Duets (Łódź 2018).

The other vocalist will be Karolina Wieczorek, a graduate of the academies of music in Katowice and Kraków, currently cooperating with the Krakow Opera. The artist is a laureate of the International Imrich Godin Vocal Competition – Iuventus Canti Vrable. She also won the Audience Award at the International Festival "Bel Canto" in Nałęczów and honorable mention at the Iwona Borowicka "Golden Voices of Mazovia" competition.
