Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC
In 2023, 150 years have passed since birth of Witold Maliszewski. His works will be performed on the 15th of December at 7:00 p.m. at the Opole Philharmonic as part of the "Polish Forgotten Music" series. The Philharmonic Orchestra will be conducted by maestro Przemysław Neumann. Joanna Kędzior (soprano) and Maciej Kułakowski (cello) will perform as soloists.
Thanks to the work of many involved people (including director Przemysław Neumann, score editors, musicians and sound directors), the Orchestra's achievements include a three-CD album presenting Maliszewski's symphonic compositions, and another CD is already in preparation, this time with concert works.
During the December concert we will hear the Princess Basia variations for soprano and orchestra, Op. 33 to words by Janina Gill and Suite for cello and orchestra Op. 20, which (in a later version with piano accompaniment) won second prize at the International Composition Competition.
