Warsaw Organ Festival

Organy Śródmieścia Warsaw Organ Festival "Organy Śródmieścia" (The Organ of the City Centre) will be held between September 4 and October 23, 2016 in different churches in the Warsaw city centre.

The Festival was founded in 2002 by Warsaw organist Przemysław Kapituła. Held annually, it consists of a number of organ recitals performed by master organ players. The programme of each recital is suited to the characteristics of the instrument. The concerts are preceded by a commentary on the organ history and construction techniques.

Over the past centuries, Warsaw sanctuaries have been equipped with several dozen pipe organ of different types that vary in their construction, sound features, and individual characteristics. Several temples located in the Warsaw city centre possess noticeable instruments, many of which have been splendidly renovated. The Festival’s goal it to revive and present organ as an important element of the culture of Warsaw.
