The Opera at the Castle in Szczecin is organizing a Lenten Concert on March 3, 2018. The event will take place in the St. Wojciech Garrison Church at 7.30 p.m. For the first time in Szczecin, Stabat Mater by Janusz Stalmierski – composer and author of the Szczecin bugle call – will be performed.
Lent is a time of reflection on life and suffering, important decisions and spiritual preparation for Easter. During the Lenten Concert organized by the Opera at the Castle we will hear the most beautiful and unusually moving works by Polish artists: Popula meus by Marian Sawa and Two Lenten motets by Paweł Łukaszewski. In the second part of the concert, Janusz Stalmierski's Stabat Mater Szczecin premiere will take place.
The works will be presented by the Choir and Orchestra of the Opera at the Castle run by Małgorzata Bornowska. Iwona Hoss will perform as a soloist. The well-known soprano is a laureate of numerous awards, including Grand Prix at the International Vocal Competition Maria Callas. She made many world premieres of Polish contemporary music.
Tickets for 15-20 PLN can be purchased at the ticket office of the Opera at the Castle, via the website www.opera.szczecin.pl and just before the concert at the venue.
